The laboratory is equipped with several resistive, super-conductive and hybrid magnet sites.
Continuous fields up to 33 tesla.

The list below is a tentative indication of the wide range of experiments that are possible in combination with the available magnets.
Potential users are encouraged to contact local staff for further details and for help to define the experiment.

  • Spectroscopy
    • Luminescence, absorption, birefringence etc. between 380 and 1200 nm with various (laser) sources and cryocooled CCD camera's.
    • Spatially and spectrally resolved imaging.
    • Raman spectroscopy.
    • Far-infrared spectroscopy with far-infrared lasers between 25 µm to 1500 µm.
    • Far-infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy.
    • Microwave spectroscopy EPR, magnons etc.
    • NMR up to 1.4 GHz with 3 ppm resolution.

  • Temperatures
    • Cryostats for the temperature range from 1.2 to 300 K.
    • 3He cryostats.
    • Plastic 3He/ 4He dilution refrigerators.
    • Thermostats up to 300 ºC.

  • Magnetic and Transport properties
    • AC susceptibility, dHvA magnetoresistance, ShdH and Hall-effect.
    • Magnetostriction and thermal expansion.
    • Specific heat Thermopower and Nernst-Ettinghausen.
    • Critical current of superconductors.
